Thanks for your reply mate
Yes i was thinking on external insulation just didnt know weather it would be as good as kingspan and stud on the inside
Hmm what you think?
Thanks for your reply mate you suggest kingspan inbetween the stud or behind the stud work that way the hole wall would be covered with kingspan
Also reckon i dhould keep the vent or do away with it
Thanks again

I'm certain the dry edges have caused this thanks for your help fellas
I was mixing bucket at a time by myself setting it up on the board and throwing on
I should have mixed 3 or 4 up and got it all on together..
Live and learn

Yes mate that's exactly where it is, it's as ive done a section stopped to get more gear then started again the egde of the first section is where it looks shi&£ and won't rub up
How do I prevent this It only took me 40 mins max to get on
Cheers for your reply mate yeh a mate of mine done his bay on his house and pretty much scratched his straight away and under certain light you can see these same smoothe lines like bald patches if you like
You think these are hollows?
Would sbr with grit in do the trick?
Hi lads hope your all well and working hard.
Finally had my first go of k rend on my garage last week, scratched with base coat and mesh derbeyd and topped with k rend and derbeyd that too. gave it a day then scratched back overall it looks well...90% however there are a few smooth lines and...
Hi lads anybody got any good websites to sign up to for decent deals?
I'm signed up to wickes already, they have some good offers once in a while..
Anybody recommend any more thanks fellas
No the skimming was and still is fine but his old tin of silk he found in the shed has made a mess of it so he has tried to fill bits with filler but not sanded that down and put more of his s%itty silk over it
Hello fellas skimmed a hallway over artex a few weeks ago went back to price more work the hall is a discrace. He has painted straight on with an old tin of vinyl silk shiney thick lines everywhere he's tried to fill out a few bits but not sanded the polly filler enough and went straight over...
priced a huge loft conversion all nice new boards came back a couple of weeks later to skim it and the lad had put betokontakt over the lot. Said he'd been given it by a mate so just used it
And what if its a 4x dimmer switch with about 10 different wires in and the next job is on the gone moaning that your late? Naaaa back the screws off and skim underneath.
Yes thanks mate I was just curious what other lads think on it. I've always had the membrane behind the insulation and stud but I've seen it go on top of the insulation and stud too..just ordinary polythene and this was to regs! Surely if the warm air hit this it would just condense?
Hi lads, I've seen a few single brick walls studded and insulated in different ways.. some with a polyethylene membrane behind the insulation some on top of the insulation/behind the plasterboard. seen both these ways with a breathable membrane too. Also kingspan sat flush to the brick then stud...
I been plastering 8 years level 3 city and guilds and am still regularly learning and receiving decent knowledge from you lads. I don't have anyone to turn too for knowledge since the old plasterer i worked with passed away last year. So i do apprechiate you all for sharing your knowledge...
I know mate good point. They still can't seem to find the problem. He seems to think its still drying out. He obviously just wants it done! He's not keen on the stud idea so I've told him his scratch with waterproofer isn't going to make the wall "waterproof" so now he's suggesting a sbr slurry...
thanks mate you think a sbr cement slurry would act as a barrier for dabbing? im not into the idea of scratch and dab, seems pointless. if im going to scratch id want to top.
It is block lads hes had roofers back and forth about 4 times and cant find nothing. had dry heaters and dehumidifiers there, it drys out but then seems to come back (obviously still leaking)
So he's just looking for a way to stop it coming back through.yes I agree if the leak was fixed it would...
Hello lads, got 10 metre long wall to re dab and skim old boards was water damaged from a leaking roof so removed all the boards and about to redab but it's slightly still damp. Had heat on there seems to be drying out. Builders now asking for a scratch with waterproofer then re dab. What would...
hello lads. skimmed a huge ceiling Monday over artex..1st coat on, set down, set down again, another coat set that down trowel. trowel again and a dry trowel...my shoulder is goosed!! thinking one of these speed skims or refina spatulas on a pole could save a bit of graft and trowel work. which...
I know the jobs more than good enough especially considering the state the ceiling was in, the age of the house and what it was going on to. I don't think the loft insulation guys done the ceiling any favous either. But the customers denyd the empty rolls in the front garden saying it was...
Hello lads, all the best for 2013.
I skimmed a decent size lath and plaster ceiling over heavey artex a few months ago. I removed the original moulded panel, patched with bonding, scraped and WBA'd the ceiling then 2 coat skimmed and fitted coving. All went perfect. Few weeks later customer...
