How hard is it to get to grips with machine plastering. Would a demo (if they do it) from a dealer surfice, or would I need to get myself on a training course. If the cost of a course is quite pricey, would I be able to learn from trial and error from a weeks hire and hitting my out building at...
Turned up at a rush job today, which had to be done in one day. Before unloading the van I have a quick look at the plasterboarding. I'd told them previously what I expect from plasterboarding, to which they told me that they knew as they wern't idiots. Some of the screws were into deep, some...
Had to patch around 6 sockets and chasses today, 2 years after skimming a kitchen. Did the whole lot in bonding, including polishing up. Anyone else done this before. Have I become a cowboy?
Just saw a post for a job in corfu. I was wondering how different is it working in these hotter countrys. I assume you get a lot less time with finish plasters. Are render coats the same mix were ever you go, or do they put additives on them to cope with the heat.
P.s, I doubt I'll be trying to...
Got an area above a window were the backing plaster blew due to laths comming away from lintel. The centre of the lintel has droped slightly due to being 1930's. Would I be better of boarding it, then dot'n'dabing it to enable it to disguise the sag. The thickness off the plaster would allow for...

Keep a roll of ptfe tape in your tool box. Was chating to a plumber mate the other day who said he once accidently drove a screw into a length of pipe. he wrapped another screw in ptfe tape and swapped them over. 4 years later and still no complaint.
Went to look into getting a new trowel and was looking at a worn in one. Whilst looking down the blade I noticed that all the corners were slightly raised. Is that the norm or were they damaged?
When filling in joints and mitres, I use a plastic trade type card. As flexible as a busk and free. If you're doing a joint where both don't match, blend in both lengths by laying on adhesive over both coves and blend in with a card. When appling adhesive bend the card like you were lifting a...
Is there much work in the uk for marble plastering. Read several items and most people don't seem to get any calls. Is finding the work down to luck, ie is it mainly recomendation or customers stumbling acroos your website?
Don't ever buy beads from wickes cos they're always bent. Didn't check all 20 of them. Went to put them on van, noticed 2 were bent. Took them back into exchange and qsked what to do with damaged ones. Was told to put them back on shelf. P..s takers
Hi,
have been thinking about branching out into artexing. I know that it's not in vogue at the moment but that's besides the point. I have found that british gypsum do two, two day courses, a basic and advanced course.
I know that there is some need in the insurance related work.
I'm looking...
