unless they want the ashlar look still...if thats the case this is a simple job you could easily make look like limestone blockwork....simply plaster each block independantly ,then point afterwards,simple. if they do not want the ashlar look filling the joints first is the way to go....but...

It is actually a secretion expelled after eating,and is a natural polymer,its produced by the coccus lacca or Lac beetle,they may use it to attach eggs not sure about that.....was one of the first things taught to me in the fibrous shop....many moons ago.
