    Artex Ceilings/ Possible Asbestos

Thanks for all the replies, I feel a lot more reassured now. Like you’ve said, no one knows what’s round the corner. does anyone know If asbestos insulated boards (AIB) would ever be used inside houses? I.e under staircases etc.? don’t think I’ve ever came across any, however after reading up...

    Artex Ceilings/ Possible Asbestos

Basically over the last 15 years I’ve scraped and skimmed many textured ceilings ( as all plasters have). Mainly stuck to overboarding the last 8-9years, but still the occasional scrape job.Never thought nothing of it until recently and then just started thinking about the possible asbestos...

    Loosening off socket fronts

Yeah I do/used to do exactly the same. I was just concerned about if there was a loose wire you hadn’t noticed and then re fitted? All the sockets on the loop were working after, so don’t think there could be a break, and also nothing tripped at all.

    Loosening off socket fronts

Yeah I totally agree mate. Obviously I’d know how to put a loose wire back in etc. If spotted, just never had any interest in learning any of it though as like I say I’ve never touched anything electrical.

    Loosening off socket fronts

Yeah. Mostly rendering these days though. Absolutely hopeless with anything electrical though!

    Loosening off socket fronts

I get you. Thanks so much for explaining anyway. I think a sparky was actually replacing a few of the socket fronts on this wall at least, would his testing indicate any problems/loose connections on the sockets he wasn’t touching as well or just the ones he was replacing?

    Loosening off socket fronts

Sorry if it appears ridiculously dumb, but what exactly does a break in the ring mean? I don’t mind if it’s a case of tripping or sockets not working etc. I was more worried in case it could lead to something more sinister, for example a fire. That being said it’s a fairly new building house...

    Loosening off socket fronts

I’ve started doing this recently too. However did a job for a contractor the other day with 10 sockets on one wall, was told to just leave them off after and he’d refit them after the weekend, however I just couldn’t feel ok leaving them exposed for that long as there was young kids in the...

    Loosening off socket fronts

Hi all, Been plastering for over 12 year now and have only recently started worry profusely about removing socket fronts in order to plaster, and then replacing after the skim is complete. Am I legally doing anything wrong in doing this? I Never ever touch electrics (change socket fronts...

    K Rend colour problem

I did think about ringing rendit and getting a paint instead, like you say it's probably the best option. It's just to be hand balled on, I never thought about using a dye instead. Do you think that would be a better option than trying to add mono to each mix then?

    K Rend colour problem

It's certainly looking that way. She's desperate for me just to give it a go, rather than having to fork out twice for materials, but I won't do it unless I was to hear of other cases where people have tried it successfully in the past etc.

    K Rend colour problem

Hi all, This may sound ridiculous, but has anyone ever tried adding a lighter coloured k1 to a darker one to reduce how dark it is? Basically a customer wanted the colour sandstone, so ordered 35 bags in, however now it's came she's decided it's too dark! SIG won't take it back because they've...

    Microgobetis

    Thanks mate

    Microgobetis

That's exactly what I was going to use it for, over gloss paint. How long did you have to give it to dry between applying the micro and plastering it? Cheers again
  17. D

    Microgobetis

Hi all, Has anybody ever tried using Microgobetis internally as a PVA before plastering? I was told I could use it instead of a pre grit PVA, so I was just intrigued to see if anybody knew if this was correct. Thanks

    I Section Advice

Hi all, I haven't yet used one myself as I've been managing fine without one, however I've recently been hearing how good the I sections are for mono jobs etc. I was wondering what people's views on them are? What are the benefits of using one? And mainly, when exactly is the best time to use...

    K rend opinions

Hi all, I was after a bit advice if possible, if been given a very good price on k rend products through a contact I know, however if never used it before ( always just stuck to weber/parex), I was wondering what people opinions of k rend are? Is it as good as other mono's? Thanks for any help...

    Mono in winter

What would you guys do if it's raining lightly when about to start, with heavier rain due for later, still try and get it on or just call it a day?

    Mono in winter

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to get it on early and try a same day scrape like you's say.

    Mono in winter

Thanks. We're using weber,it's what the customer wants, otherwise we'd also be using parex.

    Mono in winter

Hi there, I've got a small mono job to do this week(35/40 m2). I was going to do it on an afternoon and scrape it the following morning, however I was unsure if that would be ok considering the temperature drop during the night? It's been quite cold up here during the last few nights (roughly...

    Weber monocouche help

Hi all, I was just wondering if you can use the weber monocouche render over the top of the parex Microgobetis primer rather than using webers own renderaid? The job in question needs to be done within 2 days and therefore using renderaid would make this impossibly due to the drying out period...

    Micro Gobetis

Thanks for that. What about applying it a few days after though? I was mainly unsure whether or not the monorex had to be applied within a certain time frame, I.e before the micro gobetis is fully dry.

    Micro Gobetis

Thanks for that . What about going over it a few days after it is applied though? I was mainly unsure over whether or not it had to be applied within a certain time frame, i.e before the micro gobetis stuff is fully dry.

    Micro Gobetis

Hi All, I was wondering If somebody would be able to tell me if there is a drying out period that you have to leave micro Gobetis 3000 for, before applying parex monorex over the top of?

    Renderaid

Hi there, just after a tiny little bit advice regarding render aiding before applying weber monocouche render. Weber Render Advice

Thanks a lot for all your advice, its much appreciated. Finally, just out of curiosity, is it imperative to use a 15mm tooth scraping tool rather than a 8mm one when rubbing the same day? I've heard numerous different theories on this and I was basically just wondering which was correct that's...

    Weber Render Advice

Hi there, just after a little bit of advice if possible.
