    Render

Re rendering onto block which is prone to cracking. Want to use a Weber or k rend cement base coat with mesh but then sand and cement render on top. Should this be ok? Looked at using a 10mm mesh with just sand and cement but think this will be hard to cover with he sand. Any suggestions?

    K rend Base Coat

Hi madmonk. Had a look into Weber Orc last night and looks straight forward. Will see if the local Huws gray stocks it today. Looks good to work with. Can I do it in two coats up to the 16mm before it sets? Going onto new ultralight blocks. Thanks for your help!

    K rend Base Coat

Just looking for the easiest option with something I can just paint to match the colour of the existing house as it's an extension I need to render. I've used the k rend base coat before which seemed easy to get a good finish. Not sure on how to finish Weber ocr.

    K rend Base Coat

Hi All, Just after a bit of help if you can. Can I use K rend base coat as first and second coat and then just paint it? I've used it before years ago but was 1st coat with mesh, second coated and then finished with Silicone coloured finish. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Jon

    Extension

I think the negative comments are more from the shock of walking out from the lower ceilings into it as it doesn't match the rest of the house. The extension is for an additional bedroom and on suite so thought that it would make it feel a little bigger. hopefully with the amount of insulation...

    Extension

Hi All! Just after a bit of feedback if you could! Just broken into the extension and now ready to start with the internal works. As you can see from the pictures the rooms have been designed to have higher ceilings than normal which I did ask for. Only problem I have now is i'm getting told...

Sorting the earth bonding before I board.

Thanks for your replies guys. Managed to get some answers for what I need to know for putting the cable in from an electrical forum. As said I'm only doing the cable runs ready so won't be doing the fixing so just needed to know what to put in ready!

Sorting the earth bonding before I board.

Sorry I won't be doing the final bit just want to make sure the wires are there if needed ready for them as if I don't do it now then they will have to be surface mounted and will ruin my job!

Electrics are from above so will all be covered over and wont be able to change them. Some of you may have come across this and the electrician...

    New Build

On a new build property would it be more common to render the property with the windows in or before the windows are fitted. I would go with after the windows are fitted as then all reveals can also be finished at the same time. What is the general rule on this and if rendered before will a...

    Boarding over an old fireplace!

Hello! I've been asked to board over an existing fireplace which had the old Baxi boiler in which has now been replaced with a combi system located in the Kitchen. They have asked for it to be boarded over and then patched in with the existing plaster as to keep the mess to a minimum and speed...

    Foundations and DPC

Thanks everyone for the replies. Think I've got the idea of it now. The project was for the conversion of an old conservatory which I was planning on taking down and starting again. Think I will be keeping to the old base now and just building within the limits to keep it classed as a...

    Foundations and DPC

Thanks for all the replies! If the dpc of the existing building is lower than the finished floor level of the extension (Timber floor on property) and I want a solid floor in the extension will the membrane I put down stop any issue with having the finished floor level above dpc inside?

    Foundations and DPC

Sorry should have put a bit more info in my first post. Its more just the basic principal of the set up I'm after. Say footings are 1 meter deep, then filled with concrete to required level its the next bit I'm trying to work out. Solid block work or brick up to dpc level. If your joining to...
