Hello,

Just looking to paint new sand and cement render and just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for the first coat.

The render has been drying over the last 2 weeks and I just want to get some paint on it to seal it. Anyone use a special sealer or stick with a watered down coat of emulsion to start?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks

Masonry paint etc , emulsion is for indoor use so make sure its a outdoor paint , and i would go for quality paint rather than save a few quid and getting a cheap one :)

Use a long pile roller and keep going until the wall is the same colour as the paint ^_^

Hi,

We would recommend priming the surface with a Product called Silancolour Primer, then finishing off with a High Quality Paint named Silancolour Pittura, both of these products are from the Mapei range for Wall Coatings

Technical info can be found here for both:

Primer: http://www.mapei.com/public/COM/products/545_silancolor primer_gb.pdf

Paint: http://www.mapei.com/public/COM/products/356_silancolor pittura_gb.pdf

We stock both of these products and can tint the paint to a large range of colours. For more information and prices please call us on 01242 236699

I would ask your client how much money they would like to spend on paint. In general, as @CTPlastering has said, masonary paint from a reputable company is more than sufficient ^_^

Is it outside? Johnstones and Leyland do a fast drying masonry paint what's shower proof in 15 minutes.
