I have seen on a site where a plot got rendered in mono and damaged and they got the painter to paint the new mono and you couldn't tell it had been repainted?
Could this be the same ?

Would painting be an option or would it be prime and a 6mm coat over top

You could ring the manufacturer for an equalising solution (paint).

If it is Weber it will be their paint. Rendit in Doncaster will sell you the cure to this problem. They will even come out and do it for you.
