I've got a couple of whole house re skims coming up soon, all empty places. Is it worth investing in a machine eg ritmo or mtec100 etc.. I'm getting more of this sort of thing, just wondering how much time/effort it would save?? I also do mono work occasionally. Cheers chaps

2 sets per day for me. I try to do an average size room say 14x14 including the lid in a day and a morning nowadays. Gone are the days of getting it done in a day for me. Just charge for 2 days and take my time instead of rushing and going home carrying my nuts in a barrow! :-)

I use darby on sand and cement render, the way u use it does get it flatter than when ive used a rule. Works for me every time on s and c. I never used it on plaster tho. Use speed skim on big hits when plastering now, I like how they flatten less hand and wrist strain as well :-))

FOUND- an almost new s*p*r*lex, great condition apart from alittle plaster cacked in the handle, oh and a bit of a bent blade from falling from a van roof (possibly). If anyone knows who might have lost/discarded this poor defenceless s*p*r*lex, please contact battersea trowel and hawk home...

I had it myself the other week. All done as normal (which I never usually have problems with) the weather was warm with a strong breeze, didn't have the crazing just got 5 hairline cracks from the roof down to the bi folds. It even cracked over the eml. Got one really bad cracking about 1mm wide...

Evening Malc, its only cos I over ordered celotex when I did the roof and the builder put down to much concrete when doing the dub base. I have 8 sheets of 100 mm which pushes level up! Its probably gonna be a tiled finish

Same as malc. Lose as much pattern as poss with floor scrapper. Then 1 thicker coat than normal, flatten then leave to set firmer than usual, then 1 more coat of multi and finish as normal.

I have to screed a floor in my extension, its 6.2x 3.4 its going over celotex. The trouble is I only have a maximum depth of 50mm for the screed. Does anyone think thats ok or should it be deeper?? Thanks guys

Plasterers1stopshop is the mtec 100 a better machine than the ritmo in your opinion? I take it, it does virtually all materials krend, multi, knauf etc

Hi bagrat. You using the spat to trowel out first and second coat and getting a nice finish with it? Does it save you much time, or does it just make life easier?? I brought a speed skim, think its a bit rubbish really, doesnt leave a nice finish so I only use it to flatten first coat. Cheers...

Guys if im gonna be spraying multi finish onto plasterboard using a ritmo or m tec 100, would you just one coat it or still do 2 ?? Cheers gents

so today i skimmed out a single bedroom walls only, lovely easy job nice earner etc.... when i went to price 3-4 weeks ago there was paper still on the wall. i usually mention about what might be on the walls under the paper may alter the price. i didnt this time as it was already a nice little...

i find my knob seems to shrink in the winter, more so than in the summer months, hope that helps.

i find it good to flatten your first and second coats, but you still have to finish with a trowel. its good for large areas though.

thanks for that @Curry would you not generally use a machine on domestic just because of the setting up and practicallity of using it in someones home? i see that you have been using the airless systems, are they more suitable for domestics?
