Derby vs rule

I use darby on sand and cement render, the way u use it does get it flatter than when ive used a rule. Works for me every time on s and c. I never used it on plaster tho. Use speed skim on big hits when plastering now, I like how they flatten less hand and wrist strain as well :))

How and why would you use a derby on skim? The same way as you would use a speedskim?

no a speed skim just flattens a derby will show peaks and troffs.

Would use on skirting lines, ceiling lines, internals etc etc

well I would if I could be arsed or if I wa trying to show off infront of site agent or customer! lol

but if knowone was looking id just smash 1big coat on swat a speedy or plaza over and then piss off home feeling guilty!:RpS_blushing:

i like a big rule for s/c indoors got a 2.2 meter one i use
h rule for hardwall ect
got a serrated rule im starting to get my head around for outside

Derby for bonding on ceilings, feather edge for walls, box rule for floor speedskim for finish, trowel for reveals, tobacco & papers for smoke, hot water & tea bag for refreshments

I use both , but I still screed walls as I was taught ,as said before Darby's makes your work look flat and closes hardwall /bonding in better than a edge . my personnel thoughts !

In my world a Darby and a rule are the same thing and you rule the wall with it.

There is a feather edge a lot use them round here for drylining as they best suited to that imo
