I've had a set of these for a while now and hardly use them they can be a right pain in the arse put up especially in confined spaces also if the stair well isn't very wide then you can't get pasted them when set up sometimes ladders and planks are easy to set up and you can get past them on the...
I went to price a small job the other day just one wall couple of hours work including traveling the customer said they have had a qoute for £40 £30 labour and £10 mats
How do you compete with that l know it was only a small job but l think that is definitely taking the p****
Thats what l'm...
When i'm looking at a job l always explain how every thing is going to be done also ask him 101 questions about how he wants things done thell him all rubbish will be taken away and left clean and tidy get your tape out and take down measurements it gives the customer confidence in you and makes...
I've used dri-coat quite a few times and never had any problems with it done full walls with it at 2.8m high, the only problem is the damp report says use either S&C or Limelite or Devonlite, spoke to the company who did the report and they said they have always used Limlite thats why it's on...
I was just going to use multi finish but Limelite have there own finish so i don't know yet only the bottom metre is having the limelite then re-skim the whole wall, can you re-skim with the limelite finish
They are having a new chemical damp proof put in and the spec says Limelite or Devonlite i've never used these before but have used Dri-Coat quite a few times and know that is for new damp proof courses and was just wondering how easy this stuff is use or is it better to use Dri-coat
Any one in the Hull area done alot of work with external rendering have to price a job up and not done much rendering and could do with a hand if anyone wants a few days work
PM me if your interested
Chris
Was thinking of getting one of these and was wondering if any one had any recomendations
Currently using a Makita 18v drill and thought maybe one of these might make life abit easier
Cheers
It's internet explorer l was having the same problem so l downloaded Google Chrome which is a internet browser and it works fine now, you could also try Firefox
Never done any work out in those areas, it's abit quite in hull depending what you charge as a day rate you might have to drop it abit l've had some people people think £100 for a ceiling including mats is expensive, yet some people have paid over £200 for a ceiling it's hard to gauge what...
The builder sorted out the platforms he rented them the one on the right is me going back for a spray bottle
It took us about 4 hours and 6 bags of board we did it in one hit had a mixer boy who just ket throwing the mixes onto the spot boards we had one on the floor and one about half way up
Here's a few pics of a ceiling me and Timmo72 did yesterday it measured 12.8x6.4m and went from 2.5 to 3.7m in height with a curve on it, turned out really good in the end
already got a mixer boy this is the second flat were onto now and going good since this is the first time he's done anything like this.
Thanks for the help
I'm alright with ruling it off it, do you normaly need PVA l thought hardwall can just go straight on, mind you the brickwork is old and it did have S&C on it, is it possible just to spray it with water as you apply it
No it has to have a backing coat it's to be rented out and he likes solid walls to be floated and skimed, he was going to use browning but l thought hardwall would be better, he says in the past tenants have caused damage to his other properties thats why he doesn't board
I always use PVA have used WBA before but l don'y like it to messy and can't be bothered to wait 2 hours before skimming
Never really had any problems, if the back ground sucks it in l just stick another coat of PVA on
This may seem like a stupid question but do you always have to do a scratch coat then float coat before you skim it
Or can you do just one coat and rule it off with a feather edge then skim
Cheers
So if skim it the same day then l don't need to do anything to the browning
Is it best to just give the blockwork a good soak with water before browning or PVA
The builder wants it doing in browning
The back ground is mainly block l think there is some aircrete block and one wall which is old brick
I was going to do all the backing first then skim so l wasn't switching backward and forward with materials
If l skim the next day can l just damp down...
Can you just spray the surface with water then before you apply the browning and then the same before you apply the multi?
Have l been doing more work then neccessary?
I going to use the PVA to treat the brick/block work and then the browning after it has gone off
It's just the way l've always done it?
Is there another?
It's 4 rooms all walls and ceilings, there's fair bit of backing to do
I thought a couple of days to back and a couple to skim allowing time to pva and fit beads
he agreed with me on the time scale that didn't seem a problem
I might give him a ring tomorrow, would be interested what price he got
Thanks guy's
I thought it was a good price
Things have been very quiet lately and l need the cash that's why l droped it to £150 also there was the possability to get another 2 flats
I'm sick of people wanting good quality work but not prepered to pay for it
If he does get someone else and...
What do you think to this price?
A builder asked my price a 4 room flat yesterday
Half to be backed off with browning then skimed the other half is onto board
He give my all the s**t about how he wanted it doing properly and that he has had plasterers before that only lasted a morning because...
I don't normaly use one but if l have a big job there is a guy a use who is great grafts like hell and can plaster he's quick and good
I usally pay £50 a day but l get my money's worth
If i'm over boarding l just get my claw hammer and bash holes init the new boards will cover them
Have tried one of those detectors but it's to much fannying around
I've got a '97' escort van
Good little run eventhough its just cost me £400 to get it through its MOT
Loads of room in the back and l can get atleast 6 boards 8x4 on the rack
I was running around in a transit connect a few weeks good to drive but no room in the back after l put my gear in l...
It's bloody sparkys l hate the most
How anyone can make a hole a foot by foot big back to the brick just putting a new socket cover on is byond my
It's even worse if they know a plasterer is coming in after them, then they just smash the place up and say "the plasterer will sort it" >:(
