He got 70 million votes and was neck and neck in quite a few states, which is a ridiculous amount of votes, if trump was deemed so bad why did he still score so high, in fact Obama got around 70 million when he won his first term in 2008.
I'm not the biggest fan of trump but I kind of see why he strikes a cord with working class Americans, he kicks up against the liberal status quo. To just dismiss them that voted for him as all red necks or what ever is nonsense.

Most business men have been bankrupt at least once in there lifetime, it doesn't make them bad businessmen, in fact it makes them stronger in my opinion as they have the nounce to bounce back, and most business men have significant borowings and some kind of charge against there companies.

I'm just giving an opinion on what you wrote about business men going bust. What ever debt he has, he must be able to service that debt or have assists to cover that debt so it makes no odds.Besides the fact most in the political eye, are far from squeaky clean.
