Alright Chaps...

I need to insure/tax/mot my van so I can get my bloody private plate off it :-( anybody know if my no claims from 2 years ago is going to be still valid even though I have not insured my van for the last 2 years?

Also what companies are you with? I need cheap as chips as I am not actually going to be using it much.

Cheers

Danny

Budget Insurance have been cheapest for me for the past 3 or 4 years. I still use all the price comparison sites each time its due though, just to make sure.

I'm paying approx £300 fully comp for a 2006 Toyota Hiace

Can't help with your NCD question though

I think your no claims should be ok Danny if you have proof
I use Gladiator Insurance brokers and leave it to them every year to find me the cheapest deal.

from what i now danny if you dont use your no claims 4 a period of 12mounths you loose them & have 2 start again / when i sold my car i was told if dident insure another car in 12 mounths i would loose 3 years no claims so i transfered them on to the commercial insurance to bring the cost of the van down ( hope it helps ) :RpS_thumbup:

Thats what I thought.......

i used gladiator, cover/excess etc wasn't great but if you only need it to get your plates off...

Im insured with Budget too i pay about £350 a year all singing and dancing protected ncb etc on an 07 plate lwb transit, im a bit older than you though Danny lol

i use gladiator. danny why cant you get your dad or mrs dad or whoever to be the main policy holder with you a named driver?

Well.....

Looks like I found a loophole :) My uncle has a traders policy so I can add the van to that till I get teh plate off it..... I might run round in the van for a while... not sure if I need it though.

Got a few quotes though today £391 was pretty cheap another company quoted £1500 I told them to s**t in theirs hats and punch it! :)

At 27 I should be getting cheap quotes......

is it an escort van danny? i was quoted £265 tpft protected no claims etc. but ended up payin £310 cos that other company wouldnt accept my card details for some reason? and i was in a rush so paid more! was for an escort van by the way, 5 years ncb

biggest con going insurance, the reason why its not coming down, is because you pay for in your premium a percentage that covers
unisured drivers
compensation culture,ie ambulance chasers
and our coloured asian freinds that have about 4 people using one policy

is that a transit???

And owls you are right.... we got hit in a taxi by a pissed up driver and got comp for it...... covered what we got stitched for earlier in the year

Hi Danny if its commercial insurance your after the cheapest i've found is commercial vehicle direct. They insured me on transit fully comp 2006 125 2.5 turbo diesel with no no claims including, legal protection 250 excess, key cover, european cover and full breakdown recovery for £650 inclusive of vat.

That was last year, its only gone up slightly this year but to be expected I had a crash!

They pay out quickly also

oh ok... I dont need the van for work though so should be able to get it cheaper... I will give them a call on monday.

But hopefully my uncle will just add the van to the traders policy :)
