LOVE HANDLES

One of my lads is 6ft 1in and 9st 2lb and 25 year old. He has struggled always to gain weight hes had constant stick off everybody for years. Hes struggled with the abuse at times and tried all sort f weight gain to no avail 2yr ago i caught him with steroid pills i hit the fickin roof. After it all calmed down and i realised how desperate he was i felt quite sorry for him. So as a weight issue there is 2 Sides to it and feel for the lads who cant put weight on

You can run all you want too but you will fail to shift your belly and then get fed up and go back to your old ways. Exercise is great way of keeping it off but you have to get to that place first and the only way of doing that is to change your eating and start to get the right stuff into you . There is plenty of info on the internet about this . Just as a point, fit and healthy are not always the same thing as someone can be very fit but not especially healthy in what they eat and drink and fitness is only relevant to what you are asking your body to do .
To be fair mate I blame a nagging wife and two kids .. I used to race on a road bikes (cycle that is) 70 _80 mile races always been fit as a fiddle.. ran cross country at county level. Every sport youd think of I've done blasted the gym put two stone of muscle on through good diet and heavy weights.
Always struggled to put weight on till the belly got me at age 28 .. always said to me dad is never have a belly like him to which he replied took me years to get this and a lot of good food.
I eat pretty well but those beers and caffeine will get to you eventually

Eat all your calories in the early bit of the day..........diminishing into the evening.

As said, breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper, that way you using the calories not storing them at night.

Skinny doesnt mean good health mate. If you can what you want and not put on weight chances are your cholesterol aint to good
That is so true I had a older friend who was skinny and was in hosipital after a heart attack , also the cholesterol in my family is really high as my auntie has to see a specialist in London .
We all have to be checked because it's hereditary so well pointed out

I have to say I was a slim chap and got a lot of stick at school and even when I wanted to learn to plaster I was told to "toughen up" the 2 plasterers I worked with paid for me to join the local boxing club and I did that for 2 years... no interest in actually boxing (got in a few scrapes though) but that bulked me out and being on the shovel also helped...

Never been tempted with steroids I use to drink the shakes and stuff but then decided just eating chicken every day and 3 tins of tuna was just as effective :D I will never me massive but I can be strong and nimble :D (not now I am lazy f**k*r)

dan thats defo a great idea , a section for health fitness and wellbeing.
between all of us, there will be some great ideas, that will actually benefit our health and longevity !!!!!
lets be honest, our trades dont bode well for good bones/lungs .
who cares how many metres a day you can skim !!!!! not much use when you are pissing your pants in your seventies in a nursing home
peace x

I agree tbh it's about time this plastering trade moved on and stopped being stuck in a time warp, it's nearly 2020 ffs not 1802

Absolutely right lads and if younger lads can pick up on our dos and donts all the better. All the building trade is hard work think ours is one of the hardest though. Physical and mental health in our game is a must.
