Advice please... The plasterer said I create ridges and ripples by handsanding

Hi everyone, your advice is needed, please.

I have had someone to re-skim my 1980s house. I have never done this before so I have no idea what I am looking for.
However, I am not happy with some of the work what I feel is quite terrible. Holes, pimples, ridges, bumps are in the walls and ceiling, artex is still showing in the ceiling. I called the plasterer back to fix the problem, but he said the quality is fine, everyhouse would see imperfections in the dark and I am being too picky. He also said it's me to creat those ridges and ripples by handsanding. I only use 120-grit and 180-grit sandpapers for sanding some of the areas before mist coat, which I think is impossible. Some of the areas are even worse, so I just stop sanding and painting...

Am I right in thinking it's a bad plastering job? What is the best solution to fix all the problems?
Any feedback is appreciated.

Have you paid him anything yet and out of curiosity how much do he quote you for the full job
Did you sand with a shot blaster?
Do not pay
Do not let them in your house

Unfortunately I have paid him, it's totally my fault. I am stupid enough to pay him.
It's my first time to hire tradesmans working in my house.

I hired a project manager for getting several trades in, but I paid the plasterer directly.
He quoted me around £3400 for a full-house re-skim.

I spoke to the project manager about the plastering problem. He agreed that it's horrible.
However, he came back with the plasterer serveral days after and said it's me to create those lumps by handsanding the walls and ceilings.

Thank you guys for your replies.
At least I know I am not being unreasonable.
To have my money back, can I ask if going to court is the only option, please?

The plasterer is talking s**t and his plastering is s**t if every room is like this in your house, advise him you want him to come back and reskim the works which he will turn down because he knows he’s s**t you have to give him the opportunity to rectify his works get evidence so a voice message a text or email asking him to rectify his shoddy workmanship once he refuses you then have the cause to take him to small claims court to get your money back

Surely your project manager or yourself would have seen his awful attempt at plastering, and stopped him going further than even one ceiling or wall

Thank you for your advice. I have already given the project manager/plasterer a deadline and I will definitely take them to court.
Can I ask why the internal corners keep cracking in my bedroom, please? I patched and sanded the internal corners quite a lot upstairs to make it look straight, but now large cracks appeared on the side where the external walls of the property are.

Unfortunately, the project manager is now sided with the plasterer and said it's my fault.
He knows ultimately he fails his resposibility to oversee the whole project and want to avoid all the problems at all cost.

take him to small claims court
take photographs
get 2 independent plasterers reports
get a surveyors report
and sue him
then get it all replastered

Project manager sounds just as much a clown as the plasterer. Chances are he’s had a nice drink off the “plasterer” to keep him sweet.!
Most the people on here are decent at what they do, I’m sure there is someone that would take on the job and do it well. Project manager has probably read a book once and now feels he can build the Eiffel Tower so sack that t**t off, get your own plasterer and take the last one to court
