its 500 a week less tax, i work for a subby and i have to say he is fair enough only its a grueling slog every day, i leave the house at 6.15 and its near 6 in the evening when i get home. i,m in n.ireland,if any of you gents have any offers of work i could be persuaded out of retirement ;)...

will hang onto the tools just in case,to be honest i enjoy plastering but its too hard a job for that sort of money

well after 31 years and 2 operations on my arms i,m hanging the tools up,i,ve been offered a job as a sparks mate , not sure if i,m wise but gonna give it a go. sick to the teeth of working like fukc for £400 a week

had it done in april last year, it was about 8 months before i was back on the tools. make sure you do all the exercises the physio gives you. good luck

i sold a mt s/s 14 x4 .3/4 along with an old mt hawk a few years back. both well worn the trowel was worn down to about 3 inches. i got £120 on the bay:LOL:

never saw those trowels before. mine are 12x4. seem to have got a bit pricey

see if you can get a marshalltown 12x4 carbon steel. best trowel i ever used for finishing.

i use a purdy 2inch brush for angles. expensive but great brush

well went shopping yeserday, bought a mt 13x5 stainless and guess what bought a nela s*p*r*lex. i was skimming over hard coat, had a few blisters tried the nela on them but it just goes over them. good job for the last run on ceilings though

danny can you tell me how the nela perform on taking blisters out when skimming over bonding, thanks

aye mt are hard to beat, won,t be getting a s*p*r*lex though. i,m not a big fan of them, call me old fashioned but after 30 years plastering i believe the only way to finish skim is with a good sharp carbon trowel

told him he would have to replace them. will get it sorted in the morning, he wrecked the 2 trowels a float a plastic float and a purdy brush. its not the value of the tools its getting new trowels broken in

had a dick head run over me toolbag yesterday with a telehandler, killed my 2 marshalltown skimming trowels, had one 30 years. so in the market for a couple of new ones, what do you think of the tysack stainless steel ones

we used it over boards and over hardcoat, in 30 years plastering i never saw walls paint up as bad

have any of you lads had a problem with carlite, we did a few houses and i have to say it was the worst skim i ever used

hi i find that the self adhesive scrim cracks along the angles, never had that problem with the old scrim

i did a few houses with pearl grey, silver sand and grey cement. the silver sand made it fairly expensive. now i use plastering sand grey cement and lime, it looks as good as silver sand

well almost 4 weeks since the op, still no movement the physio said i will get the sling of in about 3 weeks but i,m not allowed to lift anything heavier than 5lb for 4 months:RpS_scared:, so no shooting for me then

well finally had the op 3 weeks ago today, first 10 days were agony couldn,t even sleep. not as bad now trussed up like a turkey, i had a 4 cm tear in the tendon and the tendon had come away from the bone, so had it stittched together and tendon fixed to the bone with titamiun rods, no...

the surgeon said from 9 months to a year:huh:

its a lot easier to break in trowels here we use a lot of sand and cement, I,m not selling all my tools just 3 or 4 trowels that I no longer use, what would you say a well broken in 13x5 Marshalltown s/s is worth

i have known for a few years that the shoulder was in a bad way, but the pain this past few months has been unbearable been living on painkillers, so decided to get it looked at

well after months of living on pain killers I have had scan on right shoulder, not good severe tear on a tendon so have to go under the knife the surgeon tells me the recovery time is 9 months to a year. has anyone else had this type of op. thanks
