Guys, have any of you ever been requested to strip of a rendered smooth house and re-plastered. The Plaster is badly cracking all over (hazing) and is boast in a lot of parts. The customer wants it stripped off with a kango and a new scratch coat and a rubbed up smooth render coat,
Is there an...

Not sure if this has been done before. But I am building and need some quick advice.
I am going for 150mm cavity. I was thinking of pumping the cavity with the beads and using the 50mm insulation & plasterboard on the inside of the house along the external walls.
There is another option which...
I just seen a house been done with kingspan insulation board on the outside of a house. It was pinned on with the mushroom pins, loads of them. Then some sort of building paper/vapour barrier. Then on top of that expanded metal lath. Scratch coated and rendered smooth. The guy said he done it...
Building my own home in Ireland. Starting end of January. It is going to be a 2 story detached. I was gonna rub it up smooth render, but thinking of maybe a different finish. Maybe the external insulation stuff.
What would you do to your own home
Happy New Year all, and thanks Danny for TPF.
Its come a long way. I come on here for plastering ideas and tips. But also for advice on a van and always great help from everyone.
Hi all
Any of you guys know you vans.
Was thinking of buying a 2013 Berlingo with 100000k on the clock costing £5500
We are getting a lot of these vans coming from England to be sold Ireland. Looks like they were electricians or something. Gonna be used for homers.
If you guys were building your own house. What would you do differently.
Would you do 400 centres on the joists?
Use wallboard insulation on all external walls?
What would you finish the walls with internal and external.
Do some of you stick to a plastering contractor or do you take on bigger jobs like extensions or general building contractor. Doing the full works.
Thinking going partners with a plumber. He an do most jobs like me. I can't do plumbing and can do everything else like him he can't do...
Got a wood burning stove and the wall behind the fireplace is slightly cracking where the hotspot is. But not cracking too much. No way of getting victas plaster by wknd.

Is there a video section were members can put up videos or pictures of work being done. Maybe to show how they do things, instructional videos that sort of thing.
Had scrap plywood and eml left over. So put together a we coal bunker. Still has to be dashed to match the house.
I put a ledge inside leaning away from the door so it dsoesn't spill out.
Waterproofer of course in the scratch. Save the £££ :RpS_laugh:
A friend of mine phoned me yesterday for advice, said he was mixing sand and cement for internal render. 4:1 I think.
He said after about 30 min the mortar was going off.
He said he could feel it tightening of after 10 minutes and after 30 minutes it was getting very hard ot apply it to the...
I have roughly 32m2 of an area to cover. Need to put on a butter coat then wet dash with 6mm chips. The mix is 3 stones, 2 sand and 1 cement.
Anyone have an idea how many bags of cement I would need and how much sand or chips
Finally after a lot of research, there seem to be 3 fav ratios for wet dash. Stones:Sand:Cement 3:2:1 or 4:2:1& half lime or 3:3:1:1. which i new which one was the best but I will have to try one.
Also does anyone know if the mix will fit in a one bag mixer
Hi pro's
Just asking what you guys would mix your wet dash at. I was thinking of miximg it at 4 stones: 2 sand: 1 cement and half of lime. Any better suggestions.
Also the house is an old one. The stones used before was 10mm. I hate using them but have to match it in with the old work, was...

The house has been up for years and were ever the rain can hit it stains. Wondered if there was a way to get rid of it

Hi all, I have two ceilings in a wee cottage.(We call them hipped ceilings here in ireland) I was thinking of rounding both angles (ceiling angles & wall angles) all the way from wall to ceiling to other wall so it was all one.
