Got a wood burning stove and the wall behind the fireplace is slightly cracking where the hotspot is. But not cracking too much. No way of getting victas plaster by wknd.

Was thinking of cutting back the sand/cement back 12mm and placing in a piece of plasterboard about 1m2 over the hotspot and skimming over the complete wall.
Any good or would eml do the job. The original skim has only cracking in small places

Ah right ur not talking about in near the stove , let me have a think ....
Cheers. It's the wall behind the stove get v hot. It's already sand and cement and skimmed. The wall could do with a skimcoat anyway to tidy it up. Just thought I could sort out the small crack at the same time. I know the plasterboard method would stop it cracking but the rat might blow it of the plasterboard instead
