don't matter where they learnt to plaster... on site, apprentice, course or even youtube videos. As long as they can plaster and get a good finish then i'd happily pay them.
I actually learnt on a course. I have been plastering for 10 years and have run a sucsessfull plastering business for 8...
found this, dunno if it can be used on a battery drill, might need a chuck attachment
YouTube - Introduction to Quik Drive® Auto-Feed Screw Driving Systems
Is there an attachment you can get that just fits any 18v battery drill?
Had my makita 18v autofeed screwgun nicked from my van a while ago and have been using the drill and a hanfull of screws and its painfully slow.
Dont wana spend another £300 odd on another makita at the moment. See...
If you didnt charge it, and lived down here, youd just be ripping yourself off. How you can say its a rip off is beyond me. You are a spread, so surley you should want to earn as much as possible. Why limit your own earning potential?
I think your seriously undervaluing your own ability...
£500 minimum,. I have charged £700 before. Ive charged 250 just for a lid. £80.00....? after materials fuel and tax whats left? wouldnt get outta bed for that.
Well, they are selling themselves short in my opinion. I know what its like if you ou dont have much on.... beggers cant be choosers. ut I still think alot of plasterers these days are charging far too little for the work and skill level involved.
I work in london and charge anywhere from £150.00 to £250.00 per day per man depending on the job. Plastering is hard, so you have to charge accordingly. After tax and overheads, you want to be taking home a half decent wage for the ammount of effort it took to earn it.
When I hear about...
been using word for years mate, so long winded. I come home most nights and type quotes on word and its a bt of a drawn out process even though I have a template setup etc... a decent invoicing programme is the way forward. Once set up correctly, after a month or so of using it, it remembers...
Nice one, this works well. I just leave them all as zero. have an item called 'total' and edit it according to the job. So when it calculates it all, it will only have one figure to go by, so the actuall total will be correct. Sorted, thanks.
Thats what I want to do, just enter the total for an invoice or estimate, but still have a list of services that it stores that I can just click on rather than type every time. Not sure if quickbooks or any other accounting type programme allows this.
Luckily I didnt pay, just downloaded a...
When typing an estimate, you have an item list to refer to, i.e plasterboard ceiling, remove blown plaster from walls etc... Each item is meant to have a rate assigned to it i.e £50.00, £100.00 etc...
Is there a way of not assigning a rate as each job (item) varies so much on, customer, how...
Is there a stop bead you can get that allows you to skim up to an archway reveal with out having to skim inside the reaveal aswell?
Have a hall to do tomorrow and it has 2 arch ways. The reaveals dont need skimming. The only bead I can see are the flexible pvc arch angle beads, but this would...
My limited company has been set up since Nov 2009.
Im thinking of leasing a van, will this be an issue?
Do they credit check me? I have something on my credit rating that doesnt come off untill Aug 2011.
Ok, i only ever do the classic sand and cement render?
Im looking to learn a new type of render system? There are quite a few different types.
What is the most commonly used?
What is mostly in demand on the domestic market?
i like the idea of rendering in the prefered colour, saving on...
Render that is dropped. It all mainly goes on the tarps, but some does splatter on things and creeps under the tarps. People want the impossible i think.
Lately, i have had so many customers moaning at me for the mess we make.
I explain that its impossible not to make a mess when putting something that is practically a liquid on the wall.
I lay tarps every where and we cover the windows as best as poss. We then wipe windows, hose and brush the...
Thanks, spoke to them and they said that they are only availible in 2.5m lenghts and 110mm wide. Not really wide enough for the job i have so will have to use stop beads.
Anyone know where I can order some easibead?
http://www.easibead.com/ is impossible to contact along with Decger Building Supplies which i assume are the same company / supplier as there details are on the easibead website.
Need to know the exact sizes ther come in, widths, depths and lengths...
theres always one. Plasterers forum.... thats what its for mate.
My rendering jobs are the nuts, just find putting beading on a pain in the arse, hence the question you re***d
Anyone else have problems with this?
Using sand and cement is tricky to get them on there with out making a funcking mess, the to try and plumb them up without the funckers dropping off is impossible!!
Anyone use board adhesive? Surley it would be ok if its under 2 lays of render and a few...
I work in london and is funcking boiling!
Any one have a fan or some sort of colling unit that they put in the room they are working?
Does it affect the plaster at all any more than the heat?
Gotta a loft to do with know windoes at the weekend and its like an oven in there. Was sweating just...
Rendered a bungalow, looks really nice.
Noticed some cracks just above the each corner of the front window ledges (4 corners, 2 winows). It sounds hollow when i tap it for a few inches surrounding the crack.
I re-did a section and the same thing has happened.
Any ideas? Do i need something...
Anyone ever attempted to render the boards found on the front of tudor style houses?
I went to quote a job who wanted the same as next door who had all boards removed, the front hacked off, then re-rendered, then they beaded it all up in the original formation of the struts and rendered them in...
Done some rendering today. Looks the boll0x from one side, when I stand the other end where the sunlight was on it this afternoon it looked rough in my opinion.
anyone experienced this?
any way to avoid it?
Had a request to add these to my mix as the wall we are doing has suffered from alot of cracks in the past.
Where can i buy these?
Do they come in a big bag?
How much do they cost?
Do I add it to the scatch, top or both coats?
Thanks in advance.
I did a job a month ago for a loft conversion company for £1400.00 and have only had £500 payment so far.
I gave 2 quotes, 1 for the loft rooms and one for the landing area.
I carried out quote 1 and it was flawless even though the boarding had been totally bodged by the polski's.
The MD of...
Thanks for the response.
I m finding it very difficult to work out what even needs doing to be honest, quoting from random drawings and descriptions is tricky. I feel I aways have to see a job to get a feel for what needs doing and how long it will take.
Do you get construstion companies contacting you saying that they are tendering for a project and want you to submit a quoatation?
They usually send about 10 pdf files with drawings and specifications.
Do you sucessfully manage to quote from these files / drawings?
Do you find you need to...
As far as external rendering goes, I only offer the basic to coat sand and cement render, applied by hand. This is either left plain or we paint it for them.
I see a hear alot about k-rend, Monocouche and other finished being applied or sprayed on, without having to paint.
Will sand and cement...
