Alryt lads
iv got about 100m2 of external rendering to do, it's approx 2 x 50m drops. It's onto thermalite block were previous failed render has been hacked off!
I am going to put an sbr slurry over it first and was looking for some advice.
would you mesh it aswell?
sbr mix ratio?
do you leave...
done 80m2 of lath an plaster ceilings in November/December, to be honest it's hard work, but it's not to bad. A nail gun and compressor are a must for lath ceilings! And I would advise that you do it on a day rate!
Evening all! I'm going to buy a couple of new skimming trowels this week, I'm used to marshalltown but fancy a change, just wanted your thoughts on the kraft elite series?? I like the look of them but don't no if they are any good?? Or should I stick with MT?
Keep getting little nicks in my plastic trowel :RpS_mad: Any ideas on on what ya can use to protect your trowels? I was thinking of using that grey foam that you put around pipes??
Did a job today for a lovely old lady, was all finished and cleaned up for 3 o,clock. Then she started talking to me! An hour an a half later she had told me her whole life story! I just didn't have the heart to cut her short an say I've got to go! Anyone else ever get this?
You might be using the angle trowel an brush to early as it will pull the skim out of the angle when wet, I only use the angle trowel on last 2 wet trowels, then brush the angle with a CLEAN water on the last trowel.
Get yourself a Harris radiator brush
Ye that's what I thought, plus I'm a greedy f**k*r and don't like turning work down :) we are starting it a week on Monday so will keep this thread posted!
Yes mate got someone with plenty of experience to do it with me tho, and got the client to sort materials and pay us both a day rate, so it should work out ok
For 15 pounds a month it's not to bad, I go on there when I'm quite if Thers a decent job il buy it an price it, I seem to get about 2 out 3 quotes from there. But I only have a 5 mile working radius I tried a larger radius but didn't work as good for me! The trick is reading the ad properly...
Exactly what I thought at first mate but it's a grade 2 listed building, so conservation and the English heritage have told them they have to do it this way.
Cheers for the advice guys, I have passed the job on to some one that has the experience needed and he has agreed to let me work with him, customer was pleased with my honesty so every one is happy! so great advice all round. Thanks again
Hello everyone
a customer would like a large ceiling in a grade 2 listed building reinstating in lathe and plaster, I don't have much experience with this type of work so was looking for some advice please.
what type of lime plaster is best to use?
suppliers for lime plaster?
Application...
Wickes plaster bonding agent is the same as knauf gear and a lot cheaper! Just as good as the bond-it in my opinion! Although 2 coats of pva usually does the trick for me
Ye I found when I was on site I was missing all good jobs! So just stick to private work now, I don't mind having the odd day off here an there gives me chance to live lol
Evening all, been on TPF a few months now so bout time I introduced myself! Got some great advice from here and also had a few laughs! (Same characters seem to be popping up on threads!) so hopefully time for me to get involved now
