The problem as said before for all of us is not now it's beginning of January next year when the tax bill comes.
I live in a fairly affluent area, and I can tell you i don’t know many spreads that are working and earning that a day.

But there are some! Quite easy...overboard average size ceiling 2 days work. Lowest price would be £300 per day with apprentice. Apprentice gets £60 plasterer £540.

Plus cost of materials...anyone doing it cheaper than that surely not?

Problem is some people will say oh I'll smash it out in a day £300 no probs  Ends up being a 12 hour day...including the time to collect materials etc...not including the time to originally quote the job and do all the paperwork...2 hours...Might as well get job on minimum wage...can't understand people who don't charge for every hour they work...apparently around 25% of tradespeople work 1-2 hours free each day. Nuts

I agree with you, if you factor in your overheads, lack of pension, holiday pay etc you need to earn more than just a wage. But in reality you get what market force dictates and that includes your type of work you do.
I’ve fellas that work for me, there good renderers but can’t be arsed with the hasstle of working for themselves and all that goes with it.

How does it take you 2 days to overboard and skim a ceiling? Normal sized room start at 8 and be done by 2. I'd get laughed out of houses if I put in 600 for an overboard

:risas: Mate you would clean up down here as that is standard prices/time...and that was a cheap price many a time I've gone in at around £880 for a ceiling board and skim. But then again I couldn't even get a mortgage without showing 3 years of accounts over 40K house prices are so expensive here

Fair enough with house prices etc but seriously what do you and the lad do on the second day

Are we on about a bog standard double size bedroom or like a living room ceiling? Loads of variables regarding what your sheeting etc I dont think 2 days is un-reasonable at all

I just presumed standard 4mx4m room...I have a no furniture policy so sheeting is simple. But yeah loads of variables as always
