just always thought that if uv got the mixer out u may aswell render the walls in 2 coat the same day and set them the next day rather than have to clear up muck from the same place twice..but like its been sed many a times each to there own,everyone learnt different ways and methods

i usually one coat walls anyway but if they need dubbing out then I usually end up just scratching them then top them another time but each situation is different so sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to get the job done

Why not just scratch 2 rooms, then drop back and top them if you got loads to do. I only use this method if the walls are thick.

Yes thats how I was taught always 2 coat (scratch and top coat) always turned out really nice but will give your method a go

Rich is right i my book, on new work i only do one coat SC but with old work it can be anything up to 4 coats to get it flat you have to adapt to the situation their are no set rules.

If the brickwork is good why would you want to two coat it? Why make more work for yourself?
Float the walls (I'll float three average rooms a day without a lab), then set the ceilings right through (about a day) and then skim the walls when cured. I know most jobs sound easier when your not there doing them but on the face of it this is a simple job.

iv tryed 2 coats in one day on old brick work befor and i let it go till lunch and then topped the wall up but found it all fell off! and when i did get 2 coats to stay on it all cracked weeks later?
