Anyone got any tips for cleaning one? It's going to be used so hammerite's not an option!

get a roofers blowtorch and burn the f'ck out of it...
good wire brush...
then 'black lead' it mate...

do the torch thing outside though cos i did it in situ once and the heat warped all the doorliners!!!

works a real treat though mate...
not seen any black lead for a few years though, just used to come in a toothpaste tube, designed for the job like...
 
didnt really look what was in it mate... its prolly not as good as proper black lead, and thats all ive used an it was years ago...
did come up really well though at the time....
 
Cheers for the links and advice boys, should've explained, it's not been painted, just in a house that's had water damage and it's got rusted up, probably gonna go foe the grate polish but wanted ant tips for getting the rust off.
