It's not based on budgets it's based on info given by customer. For example skim 1 bedroom would attract a lower fee
Render my 3 bed house would attract a higher fee

I get invited to quote on most jobs I go for based on my previous feedback

I just ignore them.....ladder planks smoke piss in buckets.....fuuck em.

no having a couple of days off as got a job sat and sun that had to be done at the weekend (not sure why) so having my weekend today and tomorrow.
Cool..

Thought you might be able to nip round mine and

lets have it right checkatrade trustatrader mybuilder all work on the premise of it being review based so the likes of @Danny @bobby @theplasterman can look down their noses at it but its all the same.

Look at it from a customers view if you phone someone up from the local rag, yell etc etc they have no idea of what you have done previoulsy good or bad,
on a review based site they can see what others have said about your work again good or bad so from a customers perspective what is better ? this doesn't mean they are after cheap work or dictating how much they will pay you, its about them having confidence to employ you to do a good job.

So for me those that do not like it are either just stuck in the dark ages and or are unable to communicate properly with people so struggle to make it work and are unable to leave a good job behind them.

I have also said this many times its the "online word of mouth"

It was with a light sense of humour I said it,I don't look completely down my nose, just halfway, tbh all jobs are crap where ever they come from that's plastering..

Which is why I'm trying to get more into video work and strawbale building.

An online word of mouth that costs... Actual word of mouth (which is my main source of income closely followed by a website) is free

Although I prefer site work, domestics are a skill in itself. Customer service, housekeeping presentation etc. People don't want hairy assed builder folk in their house, if your a typical site animal you won't be able to do it.

Ha no I'm on site 90% of the time, I was just saying for example a lot of the guys I'm on site with I wouldn't want in my house. Not patronising anyone even though it did sound that way.

It works and will get you work but it's. It's not for me and luckily I don't need to pay to get work. The issues I have with it are your paying a middle man part of your wage, you are contacting the customer which sort of turns the tables to their advantage, not everyone will think like that but I would say a majority. It gives way to a lot of time wasters and window shoppers who a lot of the time don't realise you have payed because they for it for free, the other thing is the customer is being a bit lazy ( fair enough I know the worlds changing ie the Internet and also mobile phones and people work long hours) but getting a good tradesman is not as simple as reading a review. I've heard of a few horror stories and seen jobs done by people off these sites that was bad which gives the site a bad name which in turn may give you a bad name because your associated with them. So you get posted a job let's say a living room reskim is their a guide price? I'm sick of asking the same question it keeps getting diverted and if so what does it usually say?

There is no guide price to the customer, my builder sell the lead to the tradesman and the larger the job the higher the price for the lead...but I dont think the customer sees how much the lead is being sold for.

Is there a guide price to you?

Is there a guide price to you?
No, there is a table for info thats shows how they come to their lead price, when they get an advert they have an opinion on a price and price the lead at that...ie £3 lead is under 200 £5 lead 200-350 ....but that is only their guidline for pricing leads....you could put in £600 for a £3 lead if you wanted

the bad feedback from a customer on checkatrade can be removed for a fee! so everything is not that good for the customer.

Whoop whoop at last, for f**k sake that was hard work :) are you sure the customer doesn't see that? They must get the figure off the customer about how much are they looking to spend ie is it under £200 or is it more? I know you can price what you want that's normal but would be interesting to know, has anyone used it for a tradesman and what was the crack?
