Did you score it before pvaing? if not thats why you had probs. Needs a key. You should have used bonding agent blue grit etc on that, would have been easier to skim and better job.

If the walls had wallpaper on it i get the customer to sugar soap the walls before i glue them, it gets rid of all the residue from the paper paste and its stops that greasy mush when you glue

think thats what it was mate but i got over it and iv got a roll of sand paper in the car lol

Seriously lads don't f**k around with sugar soap sandpaper, if you put a bonding agent on e.g blue grit doesn't matter about wallpaper residue/grease on the wall. Your wasting time just use the bonding agent and skim it.

Yeah it will dry rock hard over wallpaper paste whereas pva won't.
