You don't want to be missing out on work with something as simple as over boarding a ceiling. Customers often don't want the hassle of getting loads of trades involved, but chances are, even if the customer agreed to someone else boarding and you skimming, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll get a phone call to say that sorry, but the other guy said he can skim it too.
There will always be jobs, where you need to say 'no', either because you get a bad feeling about it or the client, or you simply don't have the knowledge, skills or man power to pull it off competently. That said, there will also come a time where you need to step up and take a leap of faith, but it will be a calculated leap.
My mate, a decorator is working back on site for a young guy who has done very well for himself. He was/is a DEC by trade, but one day someone asked him if he could hang some doors. Obviously he couldn't but found someone who could. He's a millionaire now!
