No mate, I have never had to sponge float any skimming I've ever done, I'm a plasterer and don't seem to need the cheat, I find skimming easy enough without spraying and spongeing.

You are a cheat, your cheating your self into thinking your at the top of your game by refusing to try any other methods that could in fact be better but you will never know

Picked up new ritmo from les yesterday, sprayed hardwall and spray finish on top. Really nice stuff to use and sucked into a thirsty hardwall back ground at a nice steady pace. Can't say anything about how it sits in joints and beads but so far I prefer it to multi. Will spray on boards next week an see how it goes. I can say I felt no need to get the spat, sponge, squirty bottle out as all it wanted was a trowel and it was a piece of pis5.

we using it next week?

Do you mask much when spraying hardwall? And does it all get ruined when working it and cleaning margins round window frames etc which then need re-masking for spray finish?

Yea I reckon so, if I get time il have a play with it Sunday after my wall papering duties! Fkin love the gun style trigger on the spray lance!

Iv ordered multi but iv got 4 bags of spray to see how it's sits next week.

We ritmo'd hardwall and skim just over a week ago with nicks old one, didn't mask windows and regretted it! Masking tape with a strip of building paper I think next time. And I reckon a cavity closer to protect when spraying against finished walls or ceilings to cut down the over spray.

Are BG now saying that it's OK to use the spray finish on backing coats? Last time I spoke to BG Joe he said they had some lads trialling it.
Steve have you spayed the finish onto backing coats, if so how'd it go?

I forgive you because you are so young, my son started with us this week and he says silly things too. Sounds like you cracked it with the skimming Currier, well done and good fortune to you, skimming is poor money though for that expensive equipment, it could be put to better use.

They don't mean any harm Gary, my lad has used the G4 and the ritmo this week, usually it has been weeks apart so he knows no difference, he now calls the ritmo the slow one!

Its the air blowing the skim everywhere that's the problem. Spraying something thicker than paint that sets fast( not air dries and so can be washed off) isnt ever going to take off. It's fundamentally flawed. More masking, specialist knowledge, expensive machinery, competition in a saturated market. Take your pick, if you were going to invest 9k it wouldn't be in skim. No offence to the lads that have invested and good luck.

Can be done with a gang of 3 spreads but we have a lab as well. He helps out when spraying ect then moves on to the next flat to get it ready. Tapes up, protects windows, primes any aquaboards ect. We even pva down the plaster edge of the ceiling boards to kill any suction.

Obviously you need the work ahead of you and be charging a decent rate but yes you can pay the machine of fairly quick. Not in a week though, we have to pay people a wage! But we pay 3 quid a meter to ourselves and the rest is goes back in to the business.

You do need decent team memebers and it does take a while for everyone to get it all working sweet but we are laughing now
