    Artex ceiling peeling off

I always use a bonding agent when skimming over artex, best one Ive found is wickes own brand (w.b.a.).gives a brill key for the plaster and slows the set a little (bit more time if you need it).Its a bit pricey,£ 17 a tub and that'll do 10m2, but Ive done loads of overskim on artex and never...

bit off topic but firm I used work for made us wear hi vis jacket , gloves, googles AND safety helmet any time we went up a ladder.Any type of ladder inc stepladder, even if just one rung, manager used to make suprise visits and give us official warning if 1 thing missing, p@#$k!

Finishing plaster not bonded to wall very well.

pva mx sounds a bit weak, try 1 pva/2 water, let first coat soak in then roller 2nd on.depending on how the 2nd coat sucks in maybe put a 3rd on.Or 1 coat of wickes bonding agent, pricey but good stuff

    Rendering solid wall

Done a similar job using rend aid with mesh, left for 3 days to set, then 1 coat of ocr.no need to keep it damp that way.

    Plastering trick ??

on a big spread I put 1 tea spoon of cream of tartar per 5 litres of water. Its in the supermarket nxt to baking soda..DONT use too much tho, it'll inhibit the reaction so much that the plaster won't set.Its handy if your doing a massive ceiling or just slow/knackered.

    Skimming over paint

Wickes bonding agent, great stuff , I always use it on artex, distemper or gloss/silk painted surfaces.just a shame it comes in a piddly little tub.

    Mono Mixing Time

would only use a belle mixer on a smaller job, get a machine in then you're bulletproof

    Standard Rendering questions

I always use rend aid and mesh first, bit pricey but gives (I find) the best surface to render to.

    Best bonding agent for reskim..

I use wickes' own brand bonding agent mostly, slows the suction down (a bit) and never had any comebacks from any job Ive used it on.
