    hi-build finish

It's difficult to patch in high build invisibly as it shrinks back when it dries, the edges need to be feathered using a brush dipped in thinners. There's also a very strong chance the colours won't match so the whole elevation will need repainting. With regards to going over what's already...

    Opinions

I did 12 years just rendering, I wouldn't ask about it either. Lucky enough I've got a mate who does any externals for me and I do his internals.:RpS_crying:

    Leaflet drops

Has anyone tried leaflets for generating work? I was thinking of getting a few thousand printed up then delivered around my area to see what happens. I was just interested to hear if anyone had done it and what were the results.

    Venetian

I did the 5 day course in Essex and it was brilliant, there was someone there when I was doing it who only did 3 days. Even Andy himself said it wasn't long enough.

best way to clean a bucket

Buckets are only a quid from B & Q, most of the time I sling them rather than clean them out.

    Nela s*p*r*lex users

I love the Nela s*p*r*lex, I've been using it for the past month and have has no problems whatsoever. I lay on the first coat with my MT, flatten with the s*p*r*lex, then second coat with MT and finish with the s*p*r*lex .

    late payers but a freind

On the other side of the coin i plastered a good mate of mines kitchen, it was the ceiling and just down to below the cupboards. I've known him for years and he's helped me out in the past so I said just give me the price of the materials, it only took me a couple of days as it was a bit of a...

    my builder

Funny enough I just recently joined MyBuilder, I got shortlisted for a job and got it today. It cost me £2 to get shortlisted and I priced the job at £300. Can anyone tell me what happens regarding paying the shortlisting fee? I'm sure I've not given them any payment details, my references...

    ServiceMagic

Hi all, Does or has anyone ever used ServiceMagic to get leads? I filled something in online (can't remember where) for these and started to get leads sent through to me via text & email. What they sent me had all the details about a job except contact details for the customer, they only contact...

    Mixing Paddle

Do you know what Rhys, I actually never thought of that:RpS_confused:. I used to have an extension on an old Makita mixer I had years ago but can't remember where I got it from. I'll take a look on ebay, cheers.

    Mixing Paddle

Evening Gents, can anyone tell me where I can buy a big mixing paddle? The only ones I can find either online or in any tool shops are the small ones which I've already got. Also I'm after an extension thingamajig to make the shaft of the paddle longer, being 6ft 2 it hurts my back sometimes...

    Lurker saying hi

Hi all, my name is Simon and I'm a plasterer in the Crawley/Gatwick area. I was a renderer for 10 years before doing a 2 year college course in plastering with the aim of getting my nvq. I now do domestic plastering around Crawley and the surrounding areas.

I'm in Crawley, is there still any work going?

    Agency price

I know it's not the done thing to discuss prices etc here but I found this episode a little alarming. Work on the domestic front has been a little slow recently for me, the jobs I've been getting have been good payers and I'm earning enough to live on but with Xmas looming I try an agency for...

    GRC Render

The render wasn't manufactured solely for the company I worked for.

    GRC Render

It was for a company called Protectacoat, they had a bad rep because of dodgy salesmen and even dodgier fitters. I'm at college now doing plastering but the job I've got at the moment is paying s+*t money so I wanted to know if anyone used the render, thinking I could earn better before I can go...

    GRC Render

Does anyone use GRC render? (the grey stuff with fibreglass strands in). I used it for years whilst working for a textured coatings company but since they went tits up I've not seen anyone else using it.
