    8x4 plasterboard

use soundcheck boards. I find the extra weight makes them easier to balance

    plasterers eye

twice ive ad to go to hospital. If its not rinsed out quick enough, the lime will burn through the protective membrane of the eye. this membrane will heal, but in the meantime, the eye is open to the risk of infection. If the eye is still irritable next day, worth checking out

    second coat

I always usta get the first coat as flat as possible when laying on. This is how i had been taught. Now i fire on the first coat, don't worry about it being neat( to a certain extent),then go back and quickly flatten it before second coat. Trust me, much easier, quicker and better finish. Anyone...

    1 coat wonder

student accomodation at £2.50 per metre. I'll one coat special 5 million pound house in cheshire at £5. I'll two coat. Always. A good finish can be achieved by a skilled one coater, NEVER as good as two coats though

I usually remove furniture, carpets and floorboards from the floor above appropriate ceiling. Couple of small pilot holes drilled from above, replace carpets and furnishing. No mess. Job done.

    wet angles

A pain, but sometimes youv'e got to do em. Question is, When using an angle trowel. Do you use the angle trowel simply to flatten the plaster? Or to both flatten and APPLY the plaster? Iv'e seen good plasterers do both. Personally, I apply plaster with normal trowel and only use angle trowel...

just how accurate is it though?

    glue gun

epoxy resin is great for beading up. It goes off quick enough for your trowel not to disturb bead when plastering. Skim or float. Plaster of paris also does the trick
