How do you deal with the small jobs people want doing, jobs that basically take 2/3 hours semis local.
i normally try and time them with days I’ve finished a bigger job and I’m passing, but as im sure you all know people don’t want to wait, but don’t understand unless I have another job to tie up with it it’s often not worth doing it as I can make more elsewhere.
i currently have a job about 20 miles away, middle of nowhere that I expect will take me a morning tops, then go back for a a hour or so the next day to finish up. (Small tilling job, labour only in this example). They want me to come yesterday, I’ve said I’d want 100 to 150 But ive nothing to make it up to a full day, so at the moment that would be a low earning day. in any case. The people don’t realise that we have costs and tools to buy and have to live, and are moaning in it’s too expensive, as it stands I’ve left it that they can get someone else if they want I’m not bothered.
im finding this more and more that people expect me to turn up instantly to do a small patching job and i end up getting £20 to £40 As they cant understand we aren’t employed and have costs, its not worth getting the van out.
how does everyone manage this?
