Your correct, if going with kids it would be nightmare, don't do this, that, I think most people booked hope they cancel. I read a few ex pats news items in Spain Most hopefull to have Ltd stuff open in August. How can you safely distance on a plane. It would need to be a third full. Middle seat empty easy jet said. Mmmm

There's also the big risk of airlines and holiday companies going bust in a few months. Just when everyone's abroad, they have form for it.

I don’t get what people need the money for, food and bills. Anyone doing plastering not taking home 800-1000 a week is in the wrong game or a gambling addict/ Coke addict , how can you not have money tucked away.
Take the morgagate holiday to ease the cash flow situation at the moment and if ya morgagate goes up £10 a month buy you got money to survive and pay off ya other bills that’s what it’s there for.

This is the brutal truth you have to be earning reasonable money whether in the North or South...in the South at least £1000 - £1500 per week...I have see many plasterers come and go in my area many don't survive. In fact there are around 5 main companies for the last 15 years...and a few plasterers that work mainly for builders.

When this sh*t storm is over it will be those main companies that survive because they have charged reasonable rates, have backup funds so can pick and choose jobs, have their own storage units so no overheads, own their vans, own all there machines and tools...

To be fair it's not only about what you charge, but how you manage money.

It's how small companies were run back in the day from greengrocers to builders. The along came the constant growth model, easy access to credit, lease vans/plant, big contracts with tiny margins and a lot jumped on board the train because they wanted to be big straight away.

The same is true for getting your first home. Second hand furniture, a few kitchen bits from relatives and an old banger of a car or van. That became a new build house or flat, furnished with brand new stuff and a new or new-ish motor on HP or contract lease.

If you want to practice what you
Preach
All then contracts will be void
& if you really wanted you would take legal
& if you wanted to practice what you preach as the government has it boot on your face just start coughing on a job & feeling unwell !

Your welcome

I'm not sure who that's aimed at, but I'd be genuinely interested to hear why you think all contracts would be void? Because there are a few well defined reasons a contract would be void under UK law, and none of those apply to the situation with Covid 19 and working.

You can of course breach the contract but you would still be liable for either fulfilling the contract or would be sued for the cost of fulfilling the contract plus additional costs incurred.

Image, this isnt aimed at you..you cant come on here and preach for last 3 weeks saying health and family is more important than work then preach to every1 who's going into work, then come on here saying your starting up again on monday when country is in lockdown for another 2 weeks because of contracts..bolloxs.so contracts are worth more than your health and family but that wasnt said 4 weeks ago when lockdown started.theres no argument for it

I don't disagree, but I do accept everyone's circumstances are different.

My question about the contracts was purely out of interest that he may be aware of some issue I'm not familiar with. Contract law can be a minefield so if there's information to be had I'm happy to learn.

The whole situation is a nasty mix of moral, health, financial, legal and practical issues. I don't preach, I just stick to being a tw4t mostly. Play to your strengths and all that. (y)

Hence why I've been saying 4 last 3 weeks every single circumstance is different

We’ll just end up having a second wave of infection more devastating than the last! f**k it ever man for themselves I’ve had enough now I’m 100% going back Monday now just for me noggin I don’t care if I take a few out now! It’s all about me!

Who's working? (poll not argument)

Trade point is quick and easy login I found today. Paint, compost and some fillers but no plaster anywhere around me. I'm at home itching to get back to it. Decorating and jobs at home. Not very motivated though but I believe we've had virus and survived, but that means nothing. Financially I'm sinking faster than I expected but trying not to spend. There it is. Can see any domestic work happening this year. Only emergency and possible sites opening up. If you can turn a buck then take your chance but until phone starts ringing with enquiries we are stuffed. Mine ain't making a sound

No plaster at all in any trade point Glasgow.
Plan b has it all stored in a secret location

Again , very naive

looks just like me carrying a board with me bad back

Looks like me carrying my toothbrush first thing in the morning. The hardest part about this lock down is how it's separated me from my beloved, the chiropractor. Starting to feel it now. :llorando:
