Be dearer then gold in a month this. Could of had a bargain lads
we will all be fooked when the merchants shut.
I kmow people with families who will be f**k*d in a fortnightIt's tough now, but it will get much worse before things improve. The sad but inevitable fact is that the lower down the ladder people are the worse they will be affected. That has happened at every recession I can remember, the earliest being how bad things were for my Dad in the construction industry when Suez went t1ts up.
At the moment for me we're in the middle of a big job which puts pressure on me to keep people working and earning. Lee, the brickies, roofer, suppliers etc etc. The scaffolders and brickies are just starting to have their big sites close.
Why is any of this putting pressure on me when I have work? Well I know these lads, they all have lives, families, rent/mortgage etc. and without work they may well lose all/any of those things. People will be bankrupted, evicted, divorced and sadly some will top themselves. Anything at all that I can do to slow or stop that must be done. a) because I'm not a c**t. b) because I know what it's like as a kid to be on the end of a recession in the building game.

I’ve probably about 10-12 fellas that are directly relying on me for work and wages.
The work will be there still when this is over as there fixed contracts/new build and we’re half way through them, it’s just a case of when we’re back to it. An estimate at the moment could be 6-8 weeks
, plus hard times.

There is that yes.I've already spoken to the customer to make sure she's aware that there will be problems long after this is over as a lot of people won't be available to come back.
Another issue on the other side will be materials because the factories, mines etc will have stopped production. Weeks to wind down a brick kiln, and weeks to bring it back online for example. No bricks/blocks no walls. No walls no roof. No walls or roof, no plaster and so it goes on.
One of the sites I’m due to start on next week, is closing tomorrow, so it plausible that others are going the same way.been told an hour ago

Went down to the pub last night to have a last drink, big pub only 6 customers, barrels finishing and no more being put on. Be months before I go back. If merchants and supplies close next week I,m done. We'll survive because of savings & missus is working from home now and earns more than me. - if she stays well.
