Good wages in 1980

Found a newspaper from 1980 today...

Works out at just under £43 a day...
 
I started a couple of years before that, 15 quid for a 5 day week hail, rain or snow if ya didn't work you didn't get paid, moved to another firm and hit the big time 13 quid a day, 5 pints for a pound, loadsamoney lol
 
Money! An thee were lucky lad I was paid in eggs and bacon bread and butter if I were lucky!
We started at 4 with no stopping till 8 then I walked home which were a shed. :cry:
Think yourself lucky Danny wasn't building the bloody shed, you'd have been sleeping under the stars.

1980 think £6 per hour self employed was the norm in lancashire
 
Trouble is everything else has gone up in price stupidly and yet trades still think £150 a day is good
I had a kid with me other day . Fantastic plaster but steady . I gave him £170 and labourer 50. He gave labourer a tenner and offered me 20 back .i said what ye doing . He said ot seems alot wtf . Told hi. To keep it get kids summet . Later said i.ve not had that much for ages
