Yellow spots??

Hi new to this plastering game lol...

Have just done some plastering at my sisters. Basically corner fire place was removed leaving bare brick on 2 connecting walls.

Bonded all the brick work + a little area around the tops of walls where a dado rail was removed then multi finish the whole room.

Now when coming to paint (she used that white undercoat paint for fresh plaster) there are 2 yellow spots on 1 of the brick walls come through when she painted the paint on. Any ideas what these are and what should do about it??

Also the bottom of the walls where it was brick and was bonded aswell as skimmed still look darker/still not fully dry like the rest. Can these be painted yet or is it essential to leave till fully dry??

Any help much appreciated... As said I'm no pro plasterer just a DIY really... Even tho getting quite good! Lol

Hi Chris
Yellow spots sound like stains coming through.
Stain block them then repaint.

It is best to let the plaster fully dry out.
But if you have to you can paint over it with some contract paint as it's moisture permeable & will let the wall dry out, if you use a vinyl paint it will trap the moisture behind.

Might be some impurities from the old fireplace grinning through just treat the stains with stainblock or some oilbased gloss then repaint.

Cheers nisus if you use the contract paint is it ok to then go over that with emulshion whilst still not fully dry or does that defeat the object of the contract paint?

Actually looking at the tin the finishing paint is vinyl matt. Will that defeat the object putting over the contract paint if still not fully dry?

Jut let it dry out then you'll have no problems.
