Hi Guys,
Just a little insight as to what 'Plasterers' can do.
This is the Plasterers forum, not the spread or fibre hand forum, so lets start sharing our individual talents.

I am looking for all Plasterers, who have an interest in promoting our skills, to write down their method for carrying out a particular job they found to be unusual, and a (photo) if possible. It does not matter what the job was or is, as long as they did it

The reason for this, is that in the next 5 years the Plastering Industry will lose nearly all the older generation and they will take all their Knowledge with them.

I have made a start but there is a wealth of knowledge that I need from you guy's, and the methods will have the individuals name and contact number if he or she allows.

I always fancied boat building but I never imagined in my wildest dreams that can be associated with plastering
My family are all boatbuilders, skippers or plasterers. I'm yachtmaster but instead of driving a big boat around all day in the sun, I'm doing this s**t, I must be mad.

You surely mad, get yourself a big ass boat then!

When i was a young'n i worked with an old scotish Plasterer that made concrete barges during the war for D Day and he often used to talk about cemen based hulls on ships/boats.
There's still one in existence similar to that in Hungary along the Danube, there's a video of it on YouTube.

Hi bodymould i totally agree with your comment , i am turning 50 soon, so the old boys that taught me i have now become one. You do not see apprrentices much anymore in our craft, and if you do the boss man trains them up just to a point that he can make money out of them . Not to the full level of our craft. I like the idea of documenting our knowledge and passing it onto the next generation of plasterers . But with the power of the www and youtube , you then get any tom dick and sally telling you how to do your job. I have had it many times on site where i have been given line and level but the procedure of fixing fibre is a big mystery to the men and women in suits , all they can do is look and say nothing,it would be nice to keep it like that.
