Does anyone know why Knauf stopped making ultimate backing? Was lovely stuff to use and skimmed bootifull. Was a nice alternative to the BG usual. If I understand right they have MP75 and MP finish but no backing plaster for a skim?
Yes it is more expensive but if you have lots of different backgrounds and maybe really thick areas it's a really versatile product.
I used one coat plaster for around 5 years on all my work when I used to do extensions and just liked it at the time. Then went back to browning and hard wall and bonding etc but I still use one coat to finish a one off wall or I key it up and skimm next day. If you fill out patches with browning or bonding then skim over the whole wall (Betakontakt) next day you get different suction but the one coat does not pull in as much so you get a more even consistency over the wall.
I floated 2 walls today actually with it and there was concrete, plaster boards, high and low suction and 25 mm in one area. When you get to the final stages it's tricky to avoid the blisters but if you can master the timings it looks the dogs.
