White finish

Plasterboard I think, massive penthouse job, they’ve pulled the other plasterers to pieces, I don’t know a great deal about it atm, my mates doing all the specialist decorations and he knows I can give him what he needs to do his stuff

Is that carlite stuff still knocking around somewhere? I’ve never seen or used it but folk on here said that was white
I thought that was a grey.
Not certain though.
It's white, I've used it on plasterboard but because it's so gritty it definitely needs two coats.
In the 80's Blue Circle used to make a white plaster called snow-plast that was good on plasterboard because it was finer than one-coat.

Around lockdown time, some came over.

I did think it was grey.
I did one bag.

It was a b*****d here in Essex you would have a mix of one colour then the next mix would be the other colour.
Yep put on with pink, lay in with grey, or vice versa.
We did a job years ago where we'd gone through doing all the opposites in pink and when the builder turned up with more gear it was grey. The client liked it so much that they painted the walls that colour scheme.

The carlite finish of the 90s I found very good.

It was a pink plaster.

Black and pink writing on the bag.
Loved the set time and the timings.
Flatten, one trowel then a flick of water and it'd come up like glass.

No speedys and definitely not a tiger stripe in sight.

Beautiful gear to use over hardwall floating coat.

To be fair Multifinish is just as good for going over Hardwall, suction is the key. In more ways than one. Trouble is most skimmers are scared shitless of suction nowadays.

Each had their pros.

For reskims and going over s**t walls and artex, multi was better. It's got more coarseness to it, it always dubbed better.

For fine neat work, the other battered it. If you had decent board work or nice floated walls, that silk was a pleasure to use.

When you jumped back on multi - it was a FFS mo.

That said Multi isn't as good as back then either.

I can remember the actual job where I thought what the actual f**k is this s**t...... And it has stayed that way...

The self finishing plasterers come ready mixed in a bag. I pour a bag full into a large mixing bucket keep it covered as it sets on contact with air. Just use a jug to place it on to your hawk. I KNOW IT WILL NOT WORK ON A HANDBOARD.

Oxford English dictionary definition:
HANDBOARD
When an Onanist becomes disinterested in their hobby
White finish
