Trowelling up process

What’s everyone’s here’s process? I’m always bloody changing mine as it’s been so inconsistent lately , I find flexi trowels a bit hit or miss. At the moment it’s like this , all trowels done with 13inch stainless steel marshalltown.

2 coats applied

1. Flatten off
2. 1st wet trowel
3. 2nd wet trowel
4. Dry trowel

It works but I feel like I really have to go at it sometimes to get a nice finish , I see a lot of people having success with other trowels etc.

Any ideas for a nicer finish? I used to use a mediflex all the way through but ended up with ripples and marks once painted sometimes. Cheers

I also occasionally flatten off with 24inch Refina spat between coats.

Nothing wrong with your process if your having problems it’s down to timings not the trowel if your only using marshalltown al the way through
 
I’ve learnt over the years that the less you think about it, the better it is…within reason. Get your timings right, little water (unless you really need to) and usually all ok. Depends if you’re over skimming or new board work.

Are you in the " no water club" ?
 
Flatten twice with permashape
Twice with flexi
Plazi to finish

I've been sucked in, it used to be stainless marshalltown right thro and no difference in finish
 
Two coats on
Flatten with speedskim
Trowel with 11" Marshalltown
Trowel with 11" Marshalltown
Done.
Water only used as required, not not as a matter of course.
