Welcome along Mud, some nice work there and also in awe of how clean your workshop is (y)

yessir raggles I do prefer a clean workplace.

for the most part I've always been a one man operation.

occasionally have a tender along, as needed.

now, because I like to post up pix, I want to show off some of my plaster carving

this piece is 14 feet tall by 14 feet wide, and I produced two.

one for each side of the Aztec Theatre Balcony. 2005 -

Hey Mud, great work!!! I live up here in Washington State. Are you using hemp fibers or fiberglass fibers to reinforce your material?

Thanks Loren. Retired from the outside world, but, I still do a bit of casting.

reinforcing -

many times there is no need, otherwise, metal lath and channel iron are obvious
.........tied and/or welded

and the only true "reinforcement" in my mind.

to me, sisal and/or burlap keeps the piece from falling apart if it cracks.

or, many times I leave some sisal or burlap hanging out in order to attach it

seven pound burlap is a favorite. available in 100 yard rolls x 36 inch.
...never the 10 pound. too tightly woven.

Sisal (hemp) is also a favorite. comes as a bale.

very often a combination of the above.

I never did use fiberglass fibers.

and, as I like pix

producing a finial.
draw it

model 1/4 (then make mold and cast 8 pieces)
