Smelly artex

Can anybody help me please?
I did a job recently and used Artex to create a texture to paint on to. It looks great but unfortunately it's making the room smell strange. It's been painted with quite a few layers of paint as well as a water based varnish to seal it at the end. Will the smell fade over time and does anyone know how long it would take? If not is there a product that will seal it fully and stop the smell, if I have to repaint it I don't mind as long as the smell goes!

I've scrapped artex a few times and it's as though someone has let a stink bomb off. Never heard of it doing it after being painted. Where did you get the artex from? Was it in date? What was substrate? Did you mix with clean water?

It stinks when you use it. Normally goes once its painted though....
