to day i had to patch a old 2 skim brick wall that had a sash window in. i hacked off all the way around about 600 around the window .. back to brick fixed new render beads then wet up old dry wall and applied scratch coat, it sucked its quite well so 20 mins later i mixed up a top coat and layed it on and within 1 and half hours i floated it and job was done , skim Monday.

i used fiber in the mix was it OK to lay on up to 18-20 mill thick in one set?

Yea O.K. But now youve done one you know what to expect next time, thats called gaining experience, jobs like that i put a bit of SBR in the mix dont know if it helps but it makes me feel better.
Lucius.

dont mean to sound dumb but what do you mean by wetting up old dry wall and applied scratch coat. Are you saying you layed on dry wall adhesive then scratched it then set on top?
