repair wall to a paintable finish

Hi Everyone

I've removed some old plaster and render from a wall that had penetrating damp from a neighbours broken pipe 10 years ago - its all dry now.

Here's a video of it

I'm intending to render the brick work in two coats. What should I do with the old basecoat plaster thats on there ? Its hard to take off? If I scored it will the render stick on there as well? I have about 22mm of space to fill before I apply finishing?

Any other tips appreciated..

Thanks

Andy

Also can I put bonding onto the old plaster as a basecoat for finishing?

Will I still then need to key the old plaster?

thanks
