Render repair with Ashlar lines - advice on sequence and timing

I need to repair this bit of the render, believe I have the relevant tools and have watched a number of videos on the steps.
What’s missing for me at the moment, is firstly when I should do the Ashlar lines, how long do I leave the render to set before doing them?
Do I do it before polishing with the plastic float and then the sponge? Or after?
Any advice gratefully received as I need to do this tomorrow lunchtime.

Should be sound just don’t put your bin back. There again

You'll be absolutely fine putting your bin back there, just don't set light to it again.
