Can I standard sand and cement this type of wall for rendering ?

I am presuming this is not cladding?

There will be annoying high spots so get an angle grinder and put a few cuts in them then chop off the high spots. Then if you are sand and cementing apply a sbr slurry and fill out the voids. Let set then crack on as usual.

If modern render then the likes of rend aid and dub out with ocr etc.
