Raised base

Anyone seen a raised base done like this before.

No usually just into a point. Would have thought that the top coat would have killed the champfer, unless base is good and deep
 
Did u initially cut it as normal then hold an edge to line mark to cut the flat bit into it?
 
i cut the 45 as normal then cut the top flat. Made a we device to cut the top flat without having to mark it.
yes it is a heavy base. I scratched the house, then put on a 1 coat angle bead on the corners then put roofing lath on top of that as my depth.

Could be onto something. A new base invented. Might try this on the next house. That will look good when its painted.
