Potential issue with concrete lintels

Hi everyone,

I have recently had a wall knocked down in my kitchen to make a larger room as this was an extension originally.

I have had two concrete lintels installed and I am just wondering what people think of the job?

Some people I have spoken too believe this to be unsafe, but the original builder believes it to be fine and cannot see what is wrong.

Any advice/feedback would be great please.

Dogs dinner of a job, should be a steel rsj over that distance sat on concrete pads.

You should have a building regs application done for that job ..... provide bc with with a calculation for opening
( Customers cost ) btw without paperwork from bc /or others It wILL definitely flag up with Solictors if you ever sold house ..

Max 3m lintel 150mm x 100mm with minimum bearing of 150mm on solid wall or pillar with concrete pad stone each end. Beyond that RSJ it ! As said regs should be involved.

Quick internet search @building control .
It Will find the inspector for your region (location)

Tell them your proposed works , You then need book a inspection.... (will be a fee to pay )

Send the pics to building control with your fee and they'll be out like a shot!
