hi lads done some patching today where the wallpaper steamer had took some patches of the finnish plaster but not the backing plaster so pva the patches twice two coats of skim on each kept the surrounding area of the patches wet but my question is when you skim the patches and you go over the part what needs filling i normaly would feather it in but the last few times i have scrped the edges with my trowell so its fineshed right at the edge of the patch so you dont have to feather it out does anyone else do this

That's the only way to do it in my opinion, if i'm bonding out chases or any patching i always try to cut the edges back so the plaster will finish in to the exsiting nice and flush, never looks right trying to feather in, and dirty water marks all over the wall, plus finsish is not designed to go on that thin, and will flake off.
