One coat skimming

If I could one coat to @algeeman standard I'd be doing that instead, come on mate spill the beans what's your process for doing it?

I used to 2 coat many moons ago.. now only on floating or domestics.

I used to do that but don't do it anymore, I also used to get my first coat on and then second coat straight on top and flatten in first coat as I went along second coating, if that makes sense? Now I first coat, flatten, second coat flatten etc.

If am one coating the boarding has to be good which it is most of the time.
I mix up and fill the long joints then I lay on a good 3mm coat as flat as I can even if it takes a few minutes longer because it hangs for a while.
Then after it has pulled in a touch I sponge it without adding water then trowel followed by second trowel then a dry polish.
But timing can change depending on the boards and weather

If it's rough it's hard to get a good finish

Depends on area and room size
Would rather do two large hits the prep for next day

Well mate someone had to set it up skim it clean up load van and start another house on another site tomorrow.
Should of i finished at 2 and wasted a day tomorrow finishing this off ??
