Not that long ago

When my old man and his brothers were in their prime mixing both render and screed by hand was common place.
When I started in 1981 we still turned up on jobs from time to time where I was expected to mix by hand.
Today's wet wipes think mixing a bit of Multifinish by hand is hard work.

In the 60s when we where screeding the tower blocks at Essex Univ. There would be about 5 heaps of 10 ton of sand and the labourers would each be on heap on their own mixing. Another 3 labourers on wheelbarrows loading the hoist. with a couple more taking the barrows off the hoist and loading up the flats.
