Hello all,

A friend of mine who does plastering showed me this video :

Videó - Fakéreg hatás antikk? glettel | Platinum Decor

We really want to recreate it but it seems we can't get the same materials they used as they only sell them in Hungary.

This is the plaster used with an English description:

I was told by the manager of a Venetian plaster shop here in London that Marmorino or Rilievo would create a similar effect but I don't know if it will "crack" like the plaster used in the video does.

If anyone could advise me on which products to use to do the job I would really appreciate it.

Thanks much,

Adam

hi mate i dont think marmorino will create the effect in the vid as i think its more of a polished finish and goes on thinner , bluebell paints do a product called travertino romano wich is used to create a stone like finish . this can be tonend to get a coulerd finish and can be scored into a tile or block like finish or what ever you want realy. it spreads a bit like porridge would and goes on about 2mm thick dunno if this is any help to you i can maybe take some pics of some work ive done with it if it helps.

Thanks for the reply, would the plaster be applied just like in the video? As in a thin base coat and then and extra layer with the texturing?
Also after the plastering was done they used a product which roughly translated is stone polish and they tinted it black with regular paint. Any ideas a similar product that would suit the job?

I would do it with multi and add 30% kiln dried sand to the mix, paint it black with emulsion and use a metalic silver paint for the high lights

The crackle looks like the perfect product for me, i need to give andy a call. i tried to find it through google but seems these specialist products arent east to come by...
